Price the recovery before the battle
Theria Games’ Source of Life calculator uses this planning formula:
Estimated Source of Life = dead troop power ÷ [50,000 × (1 + total applicable revival buffs)]
Enter revival buffs as decimals in the formula: 100% becomes 1.00. Use the power of troops that may require SvS revival, not total keep power. Include only buffs that are active and apply to this recovery.
The formula is specialist guidance, not an official Evony rule published by Top Games. Treat the result as an estimate and confirm it against your current Revive screen before relying on it.
A worked loss budget
Hypothetical example, not a prediction of battle losses.

In this example, raising applicable revival buffs from 100% to 200% reduces the estimate by 2,000 Source of Life. It does not make the hit cheap. It makes one part of recovery less expensive.
The buff is helping. It has declined to sponsor the entire battle.
Use the right recovery system
- Hospital: heals wounded troops. Upgrading it increases wounded capacity. The Heal menu is unavailable while the Hospital itself is upgrading.
- Trap Factory: repairs damaged siege machines. Do not count siege repair as ordinary Hospital healing.
- Holy Palace: recalls Deserters and revives troops that became Souls. The specialist guide places Soul revival at Holy Palace level 25 and Duty Officer access at level 35.
- SvS Revive: handles Server War revival and can consume Source of Life as losses increase. Check the live screen because buffs, available items and recovery conditions can change.
These systems overlap in the general category called “things I now regret,” but they do not use one shared queue or one shared cost.
Decide before the second hit
- Record the troop power at risk from the march, reinforcement or defense you are considering.
- Add only the applicable revival buffs you can verify in your account.
- Calculate the estimate, then compare it with your current Source of Life inventory and the in-game Revive display.
- Keep a separate reserve for an unexpected second loss. If the numbers do not fit, ghost more troops, change the defense, choose a smaller risk or stay bubbled.
A 2023 player discussion describes a zeroed account scrambling to farm or buy enough Source of Life before recovery closed. The reported bosses, drops and shop prices are old and may not be current. The useful evidence is narrower: a large loss can create an urgent inventory problem. Do not wait for the urgent part to begin the calculation.
