Kat’s verdictCount main-city troops as wounded with no Hospital capacity ceiling and automatic free recovery after the battle. Do not count traps or dead subordinate-city troops as recoverable. Before entry, unlink subordinate cities unless their debuffs are worth the permanent troop-loss risk, and decide whether trap exposure is worth the battlefield objective.

Draw the official recovery boundary

Evony’s current FAQ says main-city troops do not die or become captured in battlefield combat. They become wounded, the Hospital has no wounded-capacity limit, healing costs no resources and takes less time, and the troops restore automatically after the battle. Resources are not plundered and defeated Generals do not die.

The same official answer names two exceptions: wounded traps and dead subordinate-city troops cannot be recovered. “Battlefield is safe” is therefore incomplete advice. The main army has a return ticket. The Trap Factory and subordinate barracks have apparently booked separately.

Free recovery does not make every exposure free

Current specialist BoC guides agree with the official boundary: main-city wounded restore after exit, while subordinate-city troops are excluded. They also report that Knights Hall waves can destroy traps even when the keep is empty or ghosted. These guides describe ordinary BoC mechanics, not a promise for every seasonal battlefield. Read the current event rules whenever Evony changes the map, medical buildings or scoring.

Automatic recovery also does not refund time, battlefield score given to the opponent, healing speedups used before exit or a poor tactical decision. Free healing answers “what remains after the match.” It does not answer “was that hit useful.” Evony has kindly preserved the troops and left the judgment bruised.

Use a four-line exposure check before entry

Keep battlefield rules out of SvS

This protection belongs to battlefield rules. It is not an SvS recovery rule and it does not replace a Source of Life plan. In Server War, check Hospital headroom, Holy Palace capacity and revival stock before taking a hit. A blue battlefield bubble is not a legal precedent for Sunday.

Audit the account after exit

  1. Confirm that the main-city Hospital cleared through automatic restoration before spending recovery items.
  2. Compare Trap Factory totals with the pre-entry count. Missing traps belong in the rebuilding ledger.
  3. Check each subordinate city that participated. Dead subordinate troops do not belong in the automatic main-city recovery promise.
  4. If main-city wounded remain after the match, restart once because specialist guides report delayed display. If they still remain, preserve screenshots and the battle report for support rather than paying first and investigating later.

The clean decision is not “battlefield costs nothing.” It is “main-city troop recovery is protected, while traps and subordinate troops require an exposure decision.” One sentence saves more rebuilding than a very confident shrug.

Evidence limits

Official material confirms the recovery boundary, unlimited battlefield Hospital capacity, resource-free healing, automatic restoration, no resource plunder and General survival. Specialist guides support the BoC application and the Knights Hall trap risk. Player reports independently describe unrecovered trap and subordinate losses, but they are observations rather than controlled testing by Kat’s Quiet Keep. Event-specific rules and the current client take priority.
